Speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, Dean Jones has been discussing Liverpool’s hunt for a new midfielder and Moises Caicedo.
The Reds have been strongly linked with Caicedo in the lead up to the January transfer window, and many are getting excited about the prospect of the Brighton star heading to Anfield.
However, it seems as though this move may not be as close as some reports suggest as Jones says that his sources at the club are not giving these rumours any sort of authority right now, while his sources at Brighton are adamant that the player isn’t for sale.

Liverpool denying Caicedo rumours
Jones shared what he’s heard from his sources about the Ecuadorian.
“Moises Caicedo is the one who keeps getting linked. I would be very surprised if he left Brighton right now. We have to wait and see. I refuse to rule anything out though with Liverpool. From the Liverpool end they’re not giving these rumours much authority at all, and from the Brighton end they’re saying the player isn’t for sale. This seems like a no-go zone, but we’ll wait and see,” Jones said.
Won’t be leaving
Caicedo seemingly won’t be leaving Brighton this month, and, to be honest, we can understand why.
The Seagulls are in a strong position heading into the second-half of this season, and if they want to qualify for Europe, they need to keep this group together.
Yes, Caicedo is destined for bigger and better things than Brighton, but not yet.
The south coast club hold all of the cards here, and while clubs like Liverpool may knock on the door, Brighton have no reason to sell up this month.
In the summer the conversation may change, but right now, Caicedo is staying put.
