Alasdair Gold has told his Youtube channel that he has heard mixed feedback on Fabio Paratici, amid rumours he could take the Tottenham Hotspur sporting director’s job.
Paratici looks set to arrive with Antonio Conte at Tottenham in the coming days, with Daniel Levy seemingly settling on a new management duo.
Whether Paratici will take over from Steve Hitchen or work alongside him has not yet been made clear.
But Gold says that Italian contacts have had positive and negative things to say about Tottenham’s potential new transfer chief.
“Fabio Paratici, his former Juventus director of football, will likely join him [Antonio Conte].” Gold said.
“He’s an interesting one. I have heard very good things about him. I’ve heard he’s a very astute and clever guy.
“I have also heard, from people who I know that cover him in Italy, have said that he was very good at Juventus when he was working under Beppe Marotta, but when Morotta left and Paratici was left in sole charge of transfers things became a bit more mixed.
“What’s level against him from those in Italy is they say he’s a fantastic talent spotter. He will do some free transfer work.
“But he apparently struggles with selling players. At Tottenham that could be a real thing!”

Paratici’s past work
Paratici has indeed done some excellent work in the free transfer market, although Juventus’ ability to offer higher wages than Tottenham have helped.
The likes of Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot have both moved for Juve for no fees recently, which have to be considered clever transfers.
Paratici’s finest bit of business may have been unearthing the talents of Paul Pogba, though.
Juve signed Pogba on a free transfer from Manchester United, before making him one of the most expensive players in the world.
If he could recruit with such success at Tottenham then he would be a wonderful addition to the club’s transfer team.
However, Paratici will have different challenges at Spurs than he has faced at Juventus, and may not be able to hand out such lavish contracts to potential signings in the hope of landing them.
