Journalist shares what he knows about Arsenal’s transfer budget amid £250m rumours

Speaking on the Bhavss14 YouTube channel, Football London journalist Chris Wheatley has shared what he knows about Arsenal’s transfer budget.

There had been reports that Arsenal are ready to spend £250m this summer in an attempt to bolster their squad, but Wheatley is led to believe that these rumours are wide of the mark.

Indeed, the reporter says that he’s had no indication that Arsenal are going to spend that much this summer, while other reliable journalists covering the Gunners also haven’t heard that.

Inevitably, Wheatley was asked if the reports of Arsenal’s £250m budget were true, and unfortunately, he says that report may be inaccurate.

“I saw those reports as well and it’s a very difficult question to answer. We know that Arsenal do have money to spend, I think the £250m report is perhaps a little bit inaccurate. I haven’t heard that, and I’ve spoken with other journalists who cover Arsenal and we haven’t heard that,” Wheatley said.

Shame

It’s a shame that Arsenal won’t be spending that much this summer.

The Gunners need to revamp their squad, that much is obvious, and in order to do that these days, you need to spend huge amounts.

Now, that isn’t to say that Arsenal aren’t going to spend big this summer, they’re reportedly already closing in on the £50m signing of Ben White, but the so-called war chest of £250m may not exist.

Regardless, the Gunners will still be an interesting team to follow during the summer window, and it may not be long before deals begin to be announced.
