Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Guillem Ballague has shared an update from Florentino Perez’s camp after English clubs dropped out of the European Super League.

Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United have all pulled out of the breakaway competition, and Perez has already started his contingency plans.

The Real Madrid president is reportedly very let down by the other teams involved, and he’s planned an emergency Zoom meeting with all 12 founding members.

“First of all, this was the big idea of Florentino Perez, who convinced everyone and the founding members, it started with Manchester United who were very much in favour for it,” Ballague said.

“He feels now, speaking to his entourage, a little bit let down by everyone because the emotional tsunami that came on social media that has now gone onto the streets. With the pressure that’s around it, he feels the idea that was planned will not take place.

“My understanding is that there is a Zoom meeting with all 12 founding members planned, and if that’s the case we’ll see the consequences of it.”

We would absolutely love to be a fly on the wall in this Zoom meeting.

Perez will be far from happy with the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and eny of the other English clubs, and he’s bound to have some choice words for these sides.

This story may be far from over, Perez claims that the contracts signed are binding, so getting out of the Super League may not be as easy as it first appears.
