Speaking on RedMen TV, Neil Jones has shared what he’s heard from people within Liverpool about Enzo Fernandez.
The Reds have been strongly linked with the Argentine superstar over the past few weeks, and some reports have even stated that the Reds have actually agreed to sign the youngster.
However, these rumours have been tenuous stories largely from the Portuguese press, and we haven’t really heard anything from sources close to Liverpool about this deal – until now that is.
According to Jones, people within the club are laughing off the idea that Fernandez is a done deal, claiming that he received a laughing emoji text from someone at the club when he asked about these rumours.

Jones shared what he’s heard about this player.
“I don’t think there is anything. Without giving too much away, I asked someone at Liverpool, via WhatsApp, about this transfer and the reply I got was the crying laughing emoji. The one about buying now and loaning back until the summer. It was the laughing emoji in sort of a ‘wow’ way. Are Liverpool really going to do that? These stories are just going to emerge, emerge and emerge,” Jones said.
Not there yet
Now, this isn’t to say that Liverpool aren’t interested in Enzo Fernandez, but, to be honest, it always did feel as though the reports of a deal being done were a tad pre-emptive.
Think about it. Fernandez has been in Qatar for the past month and playing at a World Cup, do you really think he’ll have spent his downtime thrashing out a transfer when he had to be 100 per cent focused on the task at hand?
Agreeing a deal to sign Fernandez over the past fortnight is just unrealistic, and as Jones has now cleared up, it seems as though that is not the case.
