Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Ian McGarry has shared an update on Harry Kane’s future and a potential new contract for the Tottenham contract.
It had previously been reported by Alasdair Gold that Spurs could offer Kane a new deal, and now McGarry says Charlie Kane is confident that he can get his brother an improved deal that would include a release clause.

What’s been said?
McGarry gave an update on Kane’s situation.
“His representative, who is his brother Charlie Kane, is hopeful of negotiating an upgrade in Kane’s contract with a release clause, a set release clause. Which would mean that Kane could leave next summer, or even in January, for a set fee, rather than the haggling that went on in the last three months between City and Tottenham. Kane himself still sees his future at a team that will win trophies, which isn’t something he’s experienced,” McGarry said.
How much will it be?
It would be rather surprising if Tottenham agreed to put a release clause into Kane’s contract after making it abundantly clear they weren’t open to letting him go this summer.
However, if Spurs were to include such a clause in Kane’s deal, it would be interesting to see how much it would be worth.
Kane will be 29 at the end of the season, so what is a fair price for a player at that age? Manchester City reportedly offered £127m this summer, so you’d have to imagine his release clause would be above that mark.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on.
