ESPN and BT Sport journalist Julien Laurens has reported on Twitter that Manchester United central defender Harry Maguire had as many touches for England in the USA penalty box as Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

Manchester United centre-back Maguire and Tottenham striker Kane were in action for England in their 2022 Qatar World Cup match against the USA on Friday evening.

The match ended in a goalless draw.

Maguire was arguably the best player on the pitch for the Three Lions.

The 29-year-old former Leicester City defender was brilliant at the back, as he kept the USA attackers at the bay and was also stunning at defending set-pieces, especially from corners.

Maguire had a chance to score against the Americans in the second half as well.

Tottenham striker Kane could have won the match for England against the USA in the final minutes had his header from close range been on target.

The striker did play one or two lovely balls, but he really struggled to ask questions of the USA defence.

It was a very disappointing performance from England who lost the midfield battles, and the following stat pretty much sums up their dire display.
