Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that the Rangers board have promised Michael Beale he will be backed in January – suggesting that having cash to spend in January will have come as “part of the package” for Beale to return to Ibrox.
Beale, 42, returns to Rangers to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst after the Dutchman was sacked last week. He comes back after leaving the club just over a year ago, following Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa to work as first-team coach.
In the summer, Beale started his own managerial career at QPR. He has started well, winning nine of his opening 22 games and at one point, QPR were at the top of the Championship. Beale rejected Wolves, but has now joined Rangers.
Speaking on Beale’s move and the incoming January window, Jones says that it would have been part of the deal for Beale to move north of the border again – to have cash to spend. He says Rangers have outlined an exciting plan.

“Part of it is that Rangers have spelled out a promising future plan for him. He knows he’s going to be able to shape the first team and he will be able to have a big say on how the club is run too.
“I think they really see him as a big figurehead here and that is something that’s really exciting. The promise of funds in January comes as part of the package,” Jones has told Give Me Sport this week, when discussing Beale and Rangers.

Where does Beale need additions? Well, in goal, Allan McGregor is 40 and Jon McLaughlin did little to show why he should start. At centre-back, the additions of Ben Davies and John Souttar have not worked. Connor Goldson is injured.
Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz are good options on the left, but out of form. In midfield, there are numerous options but perhaps, they lack a goalscoring option from deep. A proper no.8. Out wide is a big worry, a lack of quality.
Ryan Kent’s form has coincided with the ex-Liverpool man entering the last 12 months of his contract. Rabbi Matondo has not done enough. So, Rangers need additions all over the park and some players will have to go. A big month.
