Speaking on the Baggies Broadcast Podcast, Express and Star journalist Joe Masi has delivered an update on West Brom’s pursuit of Hamza Choudhury.

It seemed as though the Baggies were ready to loan the Leicester midfielder in this month, but now it sounds as though there has been a twist in the tale.

Indeed, Masi says that Leicester have changed their demands on what they want for Choudhury, and their new demands aren’t financially viable for West Brom right now.

“Choudury it’s gone very quiet, my understanding is that Albion were really hopeful on a deal for Choudhury, they really wanted it slash want him, but it sounds like he’s one of the deals where the goalposts have been moved and at this moment in time it appears that financially that deal is beyond Albion,” Masi said.

This is a massive shame from a West Brom perspective.

Choudhury would have provided something different in the middle of the park for Albion, but it seems as though a deal for the Leicester midfielder is now unlikely.

Whether or not this leads to West Brom targeting a different midfielder remains to be seen, but this does leave another domestic loan spot open, so don’t be surprised if the Baggies try to exploit that market in the coming weeks.

Masi says that West Brom still want Choudhury, and as we know, things can change very quickly as we approach the transfer deadline, so we may not have heard the last of this rumour.
