Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Dean Jones has been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s January transfer plans and their hunt for attacking reinforcements.

The journalist has a number of contacts throughout the Premier League, but he says that this update has come directly from his best source within Tottenham Hotspur.

Indeed, this is an update to take seriously, and it’s quite an exciting one too.

According to Jones, Spurs are indeed after a new attacking player, and they want someone in the mould of Dejan Kulusevski who can bring creativity to the frontline rather than a replacement for Richarlison as many expected after his injury.

Spurs want Kulusevski 2.0

The journalist shared what he’s heard about Spurs’ plans.

“When I’ve pressed people to get an idea about who I should be taking seriously here as a target, the message I got back from probably my best contact at Tottenham was that when Kulusevski is not in this team, it’s generally a big problem,” Jones said.

“That creativity, that type of player is what they’ll look for. When Richarlison got injured many expected that it would be a replacement for him that would come in, but I’m not told that is the case. They want a player who can make things happen in a similar way to Kulusevski.”

Marcus Edwards is the man they need

Spurs want a player like Kulusevski, someone who can create something out of nothing in the final third who can unlock defences.

Well, they needn’t look any further than Marcus Edwards.

The winger who has been compared to Messi in the past is on Tottenham’s radar, and as we saw in the Champions League this season, the left-footer is certainly cut from that same cloth as Kulusevski. He’s creative, he’s quick and he’s incredible to watch.

According to Record, Spurs are already exploring a deal for Edwards, and after Jones’ update here, you have to admit that such a move would make the world of sense.
