Speaking on The Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel, Lyall Thomas has been discussing some potential outgoings at Tottenham Hotspur.
It’s no secret that Spurs want to get rid of both Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilon. The pair haven’t even been training with the first-team lately and Tottenham want them to go.
However, according to Thomas, there are two other players who could also leave Spurs, but only on one condition.
Indeed, Thomas says that both Bryan Gil and Japhet Tanganga could leave before the transfer deadline, but Spurs will only sanction those exits if Tottenham have quality replacements ready to come in.
What’s been said?
Thomas shared what he knows about Tanganga and Gil potentially leaving Spurs.
“There are two other players who could potentially leave, but that’s more likely to be on loan rather than a permanent deal, Japhet Tanganga and Bryan Gil,” Thomas said.
“Their situation is different to Reguilon and Winks in that they’ve been part of the squad so far, they’ve impressed Conte, Conte likes both players, but if Spurs are to let either of them go I have been told that they want quality replacements ready to come in. They won’t let those players go unless they have better players to come in.”
Won’t be easy
Tottenham will only let Gil and Tanganga go if they can replace them with players of a similar quality, but, sadly for Spurs, that won’t be easy at this stage of the transfer window.
With just over a week to go before deadline day, teams aren’t keen to sell any of their more talented players, and it will be a struggle for Tottenham to get anyone who is at the level of Gil or Tanganga.
Unless Fabio Paratici has a trick or two up his sleeve, Tottenham may be best off keeping these two in north London until at least January.
