Speaking on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel, Dean Jones has been discussing rumours suggesting that Ross Barkley could be headed back to Everton.
Barkley has been linked with Everton pretty much every summer since he departed for Chelsea, but this time around, it sounds as though there are legs to this rumour.
It’s been reported in numerous outlets, and according to Jones, two sources within Chelsea have been adamant that this deal is going to happen.
However, at the same time, Jones says that a source on Merseyside has told him that Everton don’t plan to bring Barkley back to Goodison Park.
What’s been said?
Jones shared what he knows about Barkley and Everton.
“We’re talking about Ross Barkley to Everton and I was speaking to people at the Chelsea end of this on Friday and then yesterday too and they were adamant that Barkley is on his way to Everton and that Chelsea won’t stand in his way, they were like ‘it’s going to happen.’ However, about an hour ago I got a message from someone who works in Merseyside and they said ‘no, Everton aren’t going to touch it.’ So weigh it up as you like. The problem is I think that fans aren’t particularly welcoming of him coming back,” Jones said.

Foolish
Everton simply won’t learn their lesson, will they?
The Toffees’ recruitment problems in recent years have stemmed from signing too many players in the same positions and spending big on overpaid players who aren’t up to scratch.
Barkley has so much talent, we all saw that during his first stint on Merseyside, but it’s been years since we’ve seen him show anything suggesting he’s good enough for this team or up for the fight that Everton will face this season.
Bringing Barkley back would be a foolish move, but given the signings Everton have made in recent years, it would be very on-brand.
