Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has divulged some of the conversations he’s had with Gabriel Jesus’s camp about a move to Arsenal.
Jesus has been linked to Arsenal for quite some time now, and Bailey has had his finger on the pulse when it comes to the Brazilian’s future.
Indeed, the journalist has been in contact with people close to Jesus, and while he has spoken to his entourage on numerous occasions, there’s one question that nobody will answer for him – why would Jesus want to go to Arsenal?
What’s been said?
Bailey spoke about Jesus and Arsenal.
“It’s not necessarily about the fee, Man City haven’t given up on this player yet, he hasn’t rejected City’s latest contract offer, City are doing everything they can to try to keep him and to persuade him. Out of the three that are out of contract, Raheem Sterling, Mahrez and Jesus, Jesus is at the top of the pile of who they want to keep,” Bailey said.
“When I speak to people close to Gabriel Jesus, and this isn’t a detriment to Arsenal, I always ask why he would want to go to Arsenal, and I’m not getting any answers back at the moment, I can’t for the life of me understand why he would want to leave City at this point, maybe to go and be a number nine, but I think he’s better out wide.”

Why go there?
People close to haven’t answered why he would go to Arsenal, but, to be honest, it’s not hard to figure it out.
Yes, he also has interest from Tottenham and Real Madrid, but, let’s be honest, he’s not going to be starting ahead of Karim Benzema or Harry Kane anytime soon.
Arsenal would be able to guarantee him a starting spot, and after narrowly missing out on the Champions League last season, things aren’t going too badly at the Emirates right now.
Jesus would be wise to join Mikel Arteta’s side.
