Speaking on The Football Terrace YouTube channel, journalist Dean Jones has shared an insight into Tottenham Hotspur and their transfer planning this month.
Spurs look like they’ll be busy this month, but they’re not approaching this window in a scatter-gun manner.
Indeed, Jones says that Tottenham aren’t just going out and buying the best players available to them, they’re actually really considering any new signing’s personality and how they would fit into the squad.
What’s Jones said?
The journalist shared what he knows about Tottenham’s transfer plans.
“Yeah, it’s a really difficult time to overhaul the squad, which is what Tottenham need. So they’re having to really consider not just the level of player that comes in, but the personality as well,” Jones said.
“It’s something that they’re really keen to get right at this point and make sure that this is the beginning of a new phase that’s successful. For all their relative success, they haven’t had any actual success, and they think a big part of that is making sure there’s a togetherness in this side that Conte is trying to build.”

Togetherness is key
Squad harmony may be one of the most underestimated aspects of crafting a successful football team.
A great level of togetherness can lead to a bang-average side winning trophies – a la Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City or Wimbledon’s Crazy Gang, while poor squad harmony can cause even the best teams to struggle – for example, Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea and France at the 2010 World Cup.
Spurs have talented players, but they’re not all the best characters, and if Conte can change the atmosphere in the dressing room, the north London club could soon be challenging for top honours once again.
