Speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Alasdair Gold has been discussing Tottenham’s midfield options and Weston McKennie.
As many Spurs fans who pay attention to the media coverage of their club will know, Gold is a huge fan of Oliver Skipp in the middle of the park, and he was speaking about how he hopes the Englishman gets a chance in the second-half of the season rather than being loaned out.
However, Gold does worry that Spurs’ interest in McKennie will halt Skipp’s chances, noting that he’s aware that McKennie is a player that Fabio Paratici quote-on-quote ‘absolutely adores’.
Paratici loves McKennie
Gold shared what he knows about Spurs’ interest in the American.
“I hope someone like Oliver Skipp doesn’t have to be loaned out and that he will get opportunities, but you see the links with Weston McKennie and he’s someone that Paratici absolutely adores, so it does worry me that someone comes in and then there’s no room and you send Skipp out to a Premier League team, which would be such a shame,” Gold said.
Impressive
Paratici has been a fan of McKennie for quite some time. After all, he signed him for Juventus, but his performances in Qatar over the past few weeks may have convicned Spurs that he is the many they need.
The USA may have crashed out in the Round of 16, but McKennie looked absolutely brilliant in each of his four World Cup appearances, and he looks absolutely ready for the Premier League.
Whether or not Spurs make this move remains to be seen, but with Juventus seemingly set to go through a few hardships in the coming months, they may be forced to sell to balance their books.
