Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has shared some interesting insight into Jose Mourinho’s actions after Spurs played Roma in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
Mourinho faced off against his former club for the first time after being unceremoniously dumped back in April 2021, and while it was only a friendly over in Israel, it was seemingly a rather emotional affair.
Indeed, according to Gold, after the game, Mourinho was embraced by a few of the Tottenham players after the game.
Interestingly, Gold said that both Davinson Sanchez and Lucas Moura went straight over to Mourinho at full-time, and it sounds as though their former gaffer was very happy to see them, with the journalist stating that Mourinho actually gave Lucas a kiss on the head when he saw him.
What’s been said?
Gold shared what he saw after the game with Mourinho.
“The thing is that a few of Jose’s coaches are former Spurs coaches and it was interesting to see the affection that some of those players have. Davinson Sanchez went straight over and Lucas Moura, I think Jose kissed him on the head as well. He certainly left a lasting impression on some of those players, he really did,” Gold said.

Marmite
As much as Jose Mourinho is a polarising figure, some of his players absolutely love him.
He’s a very marmite manager, you either love him or you hate him. The likes of Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw and Tanguy Ndombele would probably attest to that, but the likes of Frank Lampard, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Sanchez and Lucas would tell you differently.
As Gold says, Mourinho made his mark on some of these Tottenham players, and while it didn’t work out in the end, it sounds as though there are still some at Spurs who have a soft spot for the former Chelsea boss.
