Speaking on his podcast, Phil Hay has shared what he knows about Darko Gyabi as Leeds United close in on signing the teenager.
The midfielder is reportedly set to join Leeds in a deal worth £5m this summer, and according to Hay, this deal should be announced at a similar time to Kalvin Phillips’ imminent departure to Manchester City.
With Phillips reportedly undergoing a medical at City earlier this week, an announcement may be imminent on this one.
So, if Leeds do sign Gyabi what type of player will they be getting?
Well, many Leeds fans would be forgiven for not knowing much about Gyabi. After all, he’s not played a senior game yet in his career, but Hay has done some digging and he’s been told by people around the player that the midfielder has a huge amount of talent and lots of potential.

Hay shared what he’s heard about Gyabi.
“It’s separate to the Phillips deal, you assumed when you first heard about it that it would all be wrapped together, but Phillips will go in that direction and Leeds will spend £5m to bring Gyabi over,” Hay said.
“Technically gifted, tall. strong, everyone you speak to about him has been very impressed by him, they think he’s got huge potential, they think he has a huge amount of talent. Leeds have been looking at him for 18 months, they’ve been looking at a few players from City. This one should go through roundabout the same time as the Phillips deal.”

Leeds United have some fantastic young players coming through, and it looks as though they may be about to uncover another gem.
Gyabi, standing at 6ft 4 has all of the physical attributes to be a dominant midfielder, and at just 18, he still has room to grow and develop.
There’s a reason this young man will be costing Leeds £5m, but he may well be worth a whole lot more than that in a few years’ time.
