Speaking on The Done Deal Show, PA journalist Nick Purewal has been discussing Serge Gnabry amid ongoing links to both Chelsea and Arsenal.

The German winger has been strongly linked to both clubs this summer, but according to one report from Bild, he wouldn’t be open to a move to Chelsea due to his links to the Gunners.

Gnabry was, of course, an Arsenal player as a youngster, and he’s reportedly not open to joining another London club due to his affiliation with the Gunners.

However, according to Purewel, his stance on this front will not put Chelsea off and the journalist is led to believe that if he was offered the right deal by the Blues he would be receptive to the offer.

What’s been said?

Purewel spoke about Gnabry and Chelsea.

“He’s certainly a player with experience, he’s spent time in Englnad, so if he came to England he’d know what he’s in for. He would fit the bill, he’s the kind of player they’re looking at, and from what I understand Chelsea wouldn’t be put off by his Arsenal links and that he’s said he wouldn’t be too keen on playing for another London team. The reality would be that if the deal was the right one he’d probably be receptive,” Purewal said.

Makes sense

It would make sense if Gnabry was indeed open to joining Chelsea if the right offer came up.

Let’s be honest, it’s not as though Gnabry is an Arsenal legend. He played just 10 league games for the Gunners, and it’s not as though he’d be joining Tottenham.

Arsenal and Chelsea swap players about as often as any other team. The likes of Willian, Petr Cech, David Luiz, Olivier Giroud and Cesc Fabregas have all crossed this divide and they’re all thought highly of by at least one, or even both, fanbases.

Gnabry joining Chelsea may not be as big of a deal as it’s being made out to be in some circles.
