Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been discussing the future ownership at Tottenham Hotspur and Joe Lewis’ role as chairman.

Lewis has owned Spurs for a number of years now, but as he approaches his 90th birthday, one has to imagine that retirement could be on the cards at some point soon.

So, who will take over from Lewis? Well, there has been discussions of a takeover from LAMF in recent years, but Gold says that there is the chance that his daughter, Vivienne, takes over the role, stating that she has been a regular attendee at Spurs in recent years, claiming that the likelihood is that his family will take over when the time comes for him to step down.

Family affair

Gold speculated that Lewis’ children could take over Tottenham eventually.

“Do you think that Joe Lewis’ children will take over the club one day? Maybe after the family trust changes are in place. I remember reading that his daughter Vivienne has an interest in Spurs and often attends games,” Gold was asked.

“She does from what I understand. I know of people who have spoken to her and she is a more regular presence at games. I don’t know what Joe Lewis’ intentions are. It looks like the likelihood would be that his family or the family trust would take over his assets. Whether that still includes Tottenham at that later date I don’t know.”

“It’s difficult to answer, I can’t put myself in the mindset of a billionaire in his 80s.”

The next owner

There has been all sorts of speculation about the ownership of Tottenham Hotspur over the past 12 months, but the reality is that Lewis’ daughter could be the next in line.

If she’s regularly attending games, there’s clearly an interest there, and with The Guardian describing here as the ‘heir’ to the Lewis fortune, Spurs may be hers one day.

What that ownership will look like remains to be seen, but don’t be surprised if Tottenham is passed down to the next generation of the Lewis family.
