Speaking on his YouTube channel, Express journalist Ryan Taylor has mentioned Cody Gakpo as a potential option for Arsenal if they don’t manage to land Raphinha.
Interestingly, Leeds United have been strongly linked with Gakpo in recent weeks as a potential replacement for Raphinha, but now, Arsenal could go for him as their alternative for the Brazilian as the winger looks set for a move to either Chelsea or Barcelona.
Taylor ran through a few of Leeds’ targets, and he mentioned that Gakpo is an option for the Gunners.
What’s been said?
Taylor spoke about some of Leeds’ options and Arsenal’s interest in Gakpo.
“Leeds are obviously looking at reinforcements already Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge is one of their top attacking targets, but he’s more of a number 10, Otavio from Porto, he’s also of interest, I think a bid has been rejected by the Portuguese giants for him,” Taylor said.
“Cody Gakpo, he’s another player Arsenal will look at if they don’t get Raphinha, he’s a player they’ve made enquiries for, the same applies for Tottenham.”

Decent alternative
Gakpo would be a great alternative to Raphinha if Arsenal don’t end up signing the Brazilian.
There’s a reason Leeds United are looking at the attacker as a potential replacement for the former Rennes man, he’s been an absolute star over in the Netherlands this season.
Gakpo won the Eredivisie Player of the Year award after a stellar campaign that saw him grab 12 goals and 13 assists, in just 27 appearances, and at the age of just 23, he has so much room to improve.
Raphinha may be getting away from Arsenal, but if the Gunners sign Gakpo, they won’t kick themselves too much over missing out on the South American.
