Speaking on the EGTV YouTube channel, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Arsenal and their reported interest in Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The young Ukrainian winger has been linked with Arsenal quite strongly over the past fortnight, and while this rumour seems to have come from out of nowhere, the Gunners have been looking at Mudryk for quite some time.

Indeed, Jacobs says that the north London club have been watching Mudryk since he was in the Dnipro academy – Mudryk left Dnirpo back in 2016 as a 15-year-old, so it’s fair to say that he’s been on the Gunners radar for quite some time, and now, a late summer transfer move is seemingly possible.

What’s been said?

Jacobs spoke about Mudryk.

“Arsenal have been linked with him for about two weeks. He’s not that well-known across the footballing landscape, he’s young, but a very exciting prospect. He’s 21 years of age, he’s been playing in Ukraine and he’s been tracked pretty much since he was at Dnipro, the reason for that is because he has good composure, pace and good movement off the ball as well,” Jacobs said.

“What I like about him is that he’s not only versatile, but he’s comfortable on both sides and that fits the Arsenal profile, he has two good feet and he knows Zinchenko well so that may help in negotiations.”

Another Odegaard

Mudryk has been tracked by Arsenal since he was 15, and it seems as though the Gunners have a tendency to go back for players they’ve looked at at a young age in recent years.

Indeed, Martin Odegaard had a trial with Arsenal when he was 15 before eventually signing for the Gunners as an adult, and now, Mudryk could be on that same path.

Whether or not the young Ukrainian turns out as good as Odegaard remains to be seen, but as Jacobs says, he’s an exciting prospect with a lot of good attributes.
