Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Dean Jones has been speaking about Arsenal’s pursuit of a striker and their interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Gunners have been credited with an interest in the Everton forward for quite some time now, and it sounds as though they’re keeping a close eye on the situation at Goodison Park.

Indeed, Everton are in a bit of a mess right now, and if things don’t begin to improve on Merseyside, the Toffees’ biggest stars may soon become unsettled.

Jones says that Arsenal are focused on Calvert-Lewin’s situation at Everton, and while they don’t think he’s a viable signing this month, a lot could depend on who Everton appoint as their next manager.

What’s been said about Calvert-Lewin?

Jones shared what he knows about Arsenal’s striker hunt.

“I can’t see it happening in this window now to be honest, but if they could find someone to take Aubemayeng then that would give them another opportunity to make something happen. The fact that Everton are in a mess right now means that Calvert-Lewin is definitely a focus for them. He’s someone they would love to get, they don’t think it’s possible halfway through a season, but let’s see who they get in as their new manager,” Jones said.

Surely not

As good as a signing Calvert-Lewin would be for Arsenal right now, it’s almost impossible to see this one happening this month.

Everton are in dire straits in the Premier League, and no matter who they appoint as their new manager, they will be looking for Calvert-Lewin’s goals to get them out of this situation.

Could this be one for the summer? Possibly, especially if Everton don’t improve between now and the end of the season, but a January sale would make very little sense from an Everton point of view.
