Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Dean Jones has, once again, been discussing Arsenal’s interest in Youri Tielemans.

This transfer story just won’t go away, will it?

Arsenal have seemingly been linked with Tielemans since the dawn of time at this point, but, according to Jones, a move is still possible before deadline day.

The journalist states that Arsenal are still trying to figure out whether or not they need a new midfielder through the door in this window, and if they do decide they need more depth in that area, they will go for Tielemans.

What’s been said?

Jones shared what he knows about Tielemans and Arsenal.

“They (Arsenal) are still interested and it’s a complicated situation behind the scenes that will define whether or not they go for him. They’re trying to figure out if they have the depth or if they’re one player short. If they get to the deadline and feel they need to bring one in, Tielemans will be the one they go for. At the moment they’ve not made that decision yet,” Jones said.

Need him

Arsenal are still contemplating whether or not they need a new midfielder through the door this summer, and, in our view, they do.

Don’t get us wrong, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey have been fantastic so far this season, but if either of those two get injured, Arsenal will suddenly be very light on the ground.

Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga aren’t quite up to the standard of being a part of a side pushing for major silverware, while Oleksandr Zinchenko is better served playing as a left-back.

Arsenal could probably do with a new midfielder, and if they have the money to make a deal for Tielemans happen, they should proceed with a bid.
