Arsenal are reportedly interested in FC Luzern talent Ardon Jashari, with numerous European clubs also interested in signing the 20-year-old Switzerland youth international.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto via Relevo’s Twitch channel, the Gunners are one of many top sides tracking the defensive midfielder, with the reporter stating that ‘Arsenal are interested’ in signing the ‘exciting’ Swiss talent, along with the likes of Ajax, Napoli and OGC Nice, as well as Real Sociedad.

A regular for Luzern in the Swiss Super League this season, Jashari broke into the senior squad last campaign and has since gone on the establish himself as quite the prospect in Switzerland, with the midfielder often playing as the deepest player in the centre of the park.

Though Jashari has played other roles throughout his youth career, the 20-year-old has made the defensive midfield position his own for Luzern, and this could be why Arsenal are interested in signing the youngster given their issues with depth in this area of the pitch.

Thomas Partey, whilst now back to full fitness, has already had a spell out this season through injury, whilst Mohamed Elneny is reportedly not expected to be back for Arsenal until 2023, with Mikel Arteta and Edu Gasper looking and failing to sign a defensive midfielder in the summer, which could explain the club’s new interest in Jashari.

With the midfielder already playing in the position and for a top side in Europe in Luzern, Jashari could be an ideal under-the-radar signing for Arsenal if they can win the race for the 20-year-old, with competition already seemingly quite strong for the Swiss U-21 star.

Arsenal’s transfer policy under Edu has been quite impressive in recent years, to say the least, and the Brazilian technical director has proven that he’s willing to explore untapped markets to sign players who could add some value to the squad, something Jashari can offer in droves.

Indeed, Albert Sambi Lokonga’s long-term future seems to be more advanced in the midfield than in Partey’s role, and signing a youngster in Jashari who can learn under the Arsenal midfielder will be a great move this January, especially given the injury problems the Gunners have in the position already.
