Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been discussing Joe Rodon after his loan move to Stade Rennes.
The Welsh defender headed to Ligue 1 to get some first-team football with Rennes this season after struggling to make much of an impression at Spurs, and it’s said that the 24-year-old is very excited by this move.
Indeed, according to Gold, Rodon can’t wait to get started with Rennes, and while he’s only just joined the French outfit on loan, he’s already thinking about his long-term future at the club.
Rennes hold an option to buy Rodon, and Gold is led to believe that all parties expect that option to be exercised next summer.
What’s been said?
Gold shared what he knows about Rodon.
“He’ll be a very good addition for them, they’re very excited about it and from what I understand Joe Rodon is very excited about it as well. It’s one where all parties expect Rennes to take that deal because it’s not that expensive and they know they will make a profit on him as well when he moves onto another club,” Gold said.

Exciting
Rodon is looking forward to playing in France, and we can understand why.
The 24-year-old is a brilliant ball-playing defender and the French style should suit him to a tee.
He’ll have plenty of time on the ball to show his skill, and with Rennes being one of Ligue 1’s better sides, he should be able to enjoy his football over in France.
A spell in Ligue 1 can work wonders for young defenders, just look at the likes of William Saliba and Sven Botman in recent years, and there’s reason to believe that Rodon could follow in their footsteps.
Sadly, it sounds like the centre-back has played his final game for Spurs, but if he shines in France, it may not be long before he’s back playing Premier League football with another big club.
