Sander Berge has been the subject of much transfer speculation as the January transfer window comes to a close.

Both Fulham and Newcastle United have been linked with the player, with Fulham offering £20m for a permanent transfer, while Newcastle are said to be looking to hijack Fulham’s move and sign him on loan with an obligation to buy.

However, despite the rumours linking the player away from Bramall Lane, Berge was ‘training as normal’ on Tuesday morning, according to YorkshireLive’s Nathan Hemmingham.

Berge missed Sheffield United’s recent match against Wrexham, which sparked further speculation about his future, but Hemmingham confirmed that Berge is training as he usually would.

It is expected that Berge will leave the Blades as the Yorkshire club look to bring in some cash to get out of their transfer embargo.

The transfer window closes at 11 PM tonight, and there is still plenty of time for either Fulham or Newcastle to make a move, but it seems as though things are not advancing quickly on this front.

If Berge does move, it would be a significant loss for Sheffield United on the pitch, but it would be a boost behind the scenes. The club needs to bring in some cash as they’re under a transfer embargo, and a £20m transfer fee would be a significant boost to their finances.

On the other hand, Berge would be a valuable addition to either Fulham or Newcastle. Berge is a powerful and dynamic midfielder, who has impressed in the Championship this season.

The future of Berge remains uncertain, but for now, he is training as normal and remains a Sheffield United player. It will be interesting to see if any transfer news breaks in the coming hours, or if Berge stays put for the rest of the season. Either way, Berge is a player to keep an eye on as we enter the final hours of the window.
