Speaking on Off The Ball, Ben Jacobs has been discussing the Aston Villa job and Andre Villas-Boas.
According to Jacobs, the former Tottenham manager is very interested in the Villa job right now as he feels he still has some unfinished business in the Premier League.
The Portuguese gaffer was, of course, the manager of both Chelsea and Spurs in the early 2010s, but after failing at both clubs, it’s been a little while since we’ve seen him on these shores.
However, a decade after arriving in England, the former Europa League winner is keen to come back to the Premier League with Villa, although Jacobs does say that the Midlands club aren’t looking at him right now.

Villas-Boas wants the job
Jacobs shared what he knows about the former Chelsea gaffer.
“AVB (Andre Villas-Boas) too. AVB is a very distant candidate and I don’t think Villa are looking at him, but he’s very interested in Villa because I understand that he still thinks he has something to prove in the Premier League,” Jacobs said.
Gamble
Appointing Villas-Boas at this point would be a huge gamble from Villa.
Yes, he was touted as the next big thing in management at one point, but his conduct in recent years hasn’t suggested that he still views himself as an elite football coach.
He’s been doubling up as a motorsport driver over the past five years, while he also harboured ambitions of becoming the president of Porto rather than returning to a management role.
Villas-Boas may still be very young, but there’s already something of a feeling that he’s past his sell-by date, and at this moment in time, Villa can’t really afford to be gambling as their Premier League future somewhat hangs in the balance.
The Villans need to tread carefully here.
