Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ryan Taylor has been discussing the future of some of the 2022 World Cup’s top stars and Dominik Livakovic.

The Croatian goalkeeper was one of the standout performers in Qatar. He made a string of world-class saves as he helped his country reach the semi-finals, and he was the hero in not one, but two penalty shootouts.

Inevitably, Livakovic has been linked with a move away from Dinamo Zagreb off the back of this tournament, with Leeds and Manchester United both reportedly keen.

Taylor says that he’s heard from sources close to Livakovic’s current club that the player will be leaving in January, stating that Zagreb are resigned to losing the 27-year-old.

Livakovic on the move

Taylor shared what he knows about Livakovic.

“Dominik Livakovic, the Croatian goalkeeper. He’s a player that I’ve been told will be leaving in January, Dinamo Zagreb are resigned to losing the Goalkeeper of the Tournament really in Qatar. He was phenomenal for Croatia who reached the semi-finals, he saved three penalties vs Japan and saved from Rodrygo against Brazil, he’s very solid,” Taylor said.

“There’s been talk about Manchester United and Leeds looking at him. I don’t know exactly which clubs are looking at him, but I have been told by sources close to Zagreb that he’s expected to leave in January.”

Could replace Meslier

Livakovic is a fantastic goalkeeper, and he’s someone that Leeds United should be seriously considering.

Indeed, the Whites may well be in the market for a new goalkeeper in the near future as rumours around Illan Meslier’s future continue to circulate.

Meslier has been linked to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, and if he is to go, Livakovic would be a very apt replacement.

Leeds would be wise to look into this deal in January.
