Sassuolo are reportedly eyeing a late move to sign Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin, with FC Barcelona also working on a deal to bring the right-back to the Camp Nou.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Serie A side are looking to sign the Spanish fullback in the last two days of the summer transfer window, with Arsenal keen to offload Bellerin as Barcelona reportedly remain in discussions with the north London side to bring the 27-year-old to Catalonia.

Bellerin has been linked with a move away from Arsenal throughout the summer after the defender returned to the Gunners from Real Betis, with the right-back eager to leave the Premier League side on a permanent deal as Mikel Arteta looks to trim down the squad.

Reports have emerged this week that Barcelona are nearing a deal with Arsenal to sign Bellerin, however, Sassuolo’s late interest in the defender could cause some problems should the Neroverdi make a late bid for the Gunners right-back.

Once labelled by Arsenal cult hero Lauren as a ‘world-class’ defender, Bellerin is seemingly not short of suitors this summer with Betis also reportedly keen on signing the fullback on a permanent deal, however, the last two days of the window will likely see Barcelona and Sassuolo duke it out for the Spaniard’s signature.

Indeed, Sassuolo winning the race for Bellerin will come as a surprise to many, yet with the Serie A side one of the most ambitious in Italy, there could be a good case for the Emilia-Romagna to land the Arsenal defender ahead of his boyhood club Barcelona.

Bellerin seemed set for Barcelona with Betis seemingly out of the race to sign the defender, yet reports of Sassuolo entering the competition for the Arsenal star could make things interesting, and the fullback could well move to Italy in the coming days.

After all, signing for Sassuolo would be a fun move for Bellerin, and although Barcelona remain the fullback’s best option, a deal seems to be taking its time, something that the Italian side will likely not do if they are serious about signing the Arsenal defender.
