Speaking on the Baggies Broadcast Podcast, Express and Star journalist Joe Masi has outlined the three types of deal West Brom will be looking to do before the end of the transfer window.
After spending a reasonable amount this summer, and the financial blow that has been brought on by the pandemic, it’s no surprise to hear that Albion aren’t looking to do any blockbuster deals this month.
Indeed, Masi says that Albion aren’t in a position to buy players for sizeable fees, claiming that they will be focusing on transfers with nominal fees, loan deals and free transfers.
“They are basically not in a position to buy a player this month, they’re going to sign basically it’s going to be nominal fees just too help pay off their contracts, free transfers or loans, it isn’t going to be what you would say is a Premier League transfer fee, which for me probably starts at around £7m,” Masi said.

Luke Dowling has done some excellent work in the transfer market over the years, but he faces a tough task here.
The fact that Albion don’t have money to spend is obviously a massive blow and you have to question whether or not the Baggies will have enough to survive with just loans, frees and cheap deals.
It’s more important than ever for Albion to find bargains in the window, and all eyes will certainly be on Dowling and his recruitment team for the remainder of this month.
