Speaking on the Redmen TV, Goal’s Neil Jones has been discussing Liverpool’s links to Matheus Nunes and Jurgen Klopp’s actions towards the Portuguese star this weekend.
The German went straight over to Nunes at full-time after Liverpool’s FA Cup draw with Wolves, and he gave the midfielder a big hug after the game.
As many will know, a Klopp hug after a match is usually a telltale sign that a player is a transfer target, and, as an aside, Jones noted that the German often does that with Harry Kane whenever Liverpool meet Tottenham too.
Jones actually went as far as to suggest that Liverpool may have actually tried to sign Kane in the past, saying that he would be amazed if it doesn’t emerge that the Reds wanted the England captain at one point.

Liverpool may have tried for Kane
Jones spoke about Klopp’s relationship with Kane.
“Matheus Nunes looks like one where there is more in it. He gave him one of the biggest hugs I’ve ever seen, that’s usually a telltale sign. I always remember, I would be amazed if it doesn’t emerge after Jurgen leaves Liverpool long into the future that if he made big moves to sign Harry Kane because every single time Liverpool play Tottenham, Kane gets an absolute welcome,” Jones said.
Worth trying
Whether or not Liverpool have tried to sign Kane or not in the past is unknown, but if they have held an interest in the striker, it may be worth revisiting that interest.
Indeed, with the Spurs star entering the final year of his contract, Liverpool may well went to explore this deal in the summer, especially as Roberto Firmino’s contract is up at the end of the season.
It’s a speculative link based on body-language alone, but this may be one to keep an eye on.
