Speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, transfer guru, Dean Jones, has been discussing the recent links to Liverpool for Youssoufa Moukoko.

The Borussia Dortmund starlet has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent days, and it’s fair to say that the Anfield faithful are rather excited about that possibility.

However, unfortunately for the Reds, Jones isn’t convinced that there is too much to these rumours, stating that it seems as though these links are only emerging due to Jurgen Klopp’s links to Dortmund making this an easy story to peddle.

Pinch of salt

Jones suggests that we should take these Moukoko reports with a pinch of salt.

“Look, Liverpool are being linked with him quite a bit in recent days, but I don’t know if that’s just the Klopp thing and that it’s an obvious place for him to go. You wouldn’t suggest that it’s what Liverpool need right now as they transition to try to stay in the hunt as title challengers. Does he need that type of pressure?” Jones said.

Believable

Regardless of whether or not there is actually any truth to these reports or not, it has to be said that these Moukoko rumours are very believable.

After signing Harvey Elliott, Kaide Gordon, Ben Doak and Fabio Carvalho in recent years, it’s clear to see that Liverpool are prioritising youth recruitment, and they’ll have seen plenty of Moukoko on their scouting missions regarding Jude Bellingham.

Factor in that Klopp will know almost everything going on at Dortmund due to his strong links to his former club and you have the makings of a very believable rumour.

Either an outlet has connected these dots and ran with a story that is very believable, or Liverpool have a genuine interest – it remains to be seen what the truth is.
