Marca reporter Mario Cortegana has issued an update surrounding Manchester City target Erling Haaland, with Real Madrid seemingly pessimistic about signing the striker.
Posting to Twitter, the Spanish journalist posted that various levels at Madrid are not certain that they will sign the Norwegian international, with City viewed by those in the industry and the favourites to sign Haaland.
Cortegana posted: “Pessimism, even defeatism, continues to reach me at different levels in Madrid. I don’t quite understand it, something escapes me, but I think Haaland’s going to City.”
City are eager to sign a striker this summer, and if reports are to be believed, Haaland is the most likely option for the Manchester giants, with the 21-year-old already one of the best in his position in world football.
Moreover, City are one of a few clubs that have the finances to sign Haaland, with the likes of Madrid, FC Barcelona and PSG also in the mix to sign the Borussia Dortmund superstar this summer.
However, as we head closer to the window, City appear more and more likely to land Haaland, with Madrid focused on adding Kylian Mbappe to their ranks this summer rather than the Bundesliga talisman.

There’s no denying that Haaland is the perfect striker for City to sign this summer, and with Madrid seemingly unsure they can land the Dortmund forward, Pep Guardiola’s side have a free run at bringing the attacker to the blue half of Manchester.
Indeed, supporters will be buzzing that Madrid are slowly falling out of the race for Haaland, and with City growing in confidence in signing the Scandinavian, the Premier League leaders look set to land one of the transfers of the summer.
