
Downie has claimed that the proposed takeover is going through an owners’ and directors’ test at the Premier League at the moment.
The Sky Sports journalist has stated on SkySports.com that “it can take weeks, it can take months” for it to be passed, with the current global health crisis making the process slower than usual.
As reported by The Times, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) will own 80% of Newcastle, Amanda Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi will have a 10% share in the club, and the Reuben brothers – Simon and David – will have a 10% stake as well.
Staying patient
Newcastle fans should stay patient for now and hope that the takeover goes through eventually.
Although the Magpies are an established club in the Premier League under current Mike Ashley, they can be much better, and perhaps in the coming years, they will challenge for the European places.
The Premier League is suspended at the moment due to the global health crisis.
