Speaking on the Red Agenda Podcast, The Athletic journalist Simon Hughes has given a percentage on how likely Liverpool are to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer.
The Reds have been linked to Mbappe for quite some time now, with the player reportedly keen to join the Anfield outfit in the summer, but Hughes believes that this is nothing more than just wild speculation.
The journalist refused to even give it a one per cent chance of happening, claiming that there is absolutely no chance of this move coming to fruition.
“Is there a zero per cent chance of signing Kylian Mbappe?” The podcast’s host asked.
“Zero,” Hughes replied.
“Absolutely zero? Blank, nothing else to add on the financial front?” The host then asked
“Yeah, I’m a bit wary of saying anything on this because I’ve noticed on Twitter than certain groups when you mention anything related to transfers they’ll pick things out, but no, there is no chance of it. We’ve made this point before, Klopp said a couple of years ago that he didn’t want to sign Kylian Mbappe, he wanted to sign the next Kylian Mbappe. So no, they won’t be going for him, he’s in a completely different league when it comes to transfer fees and wages,” Hughes concluded.

Well, this is a bit of a shame isn’t it?
The idea of Kylian Mbappe playing Premier League football for Liverpool is absolutely mouth-watering, but it seems as though it’s never going to happen.
We can’t imagine that the speculation will end after this comment. After all, different outlets have different sources for their stories, but Hughes is usually spot on with these things, so we have to sadly concede that Mbappe joining Liverpool may be nothing more than a pipe dream.
