Newcastle United and West Ham both reportedly still hold an interest in signing Harry Maguire, with the Manchester United captain tipped for a transfer this summer.
According to journalist Alex Crook, the Premier League duo retain some level of interest in the England international, who this season has spent the majority of the campaign sat on the United bench in Erik Ten Hag’s first year at the club.
The centre-back, who earns a reported £200,000-a-week, has been linked with a move to Newcastle as reported by 90min, with Graeme Bailey also claiming that West Ham are keen on Maguire as the United defender looks set for a move.
Whilst a move to east London seems unlikely for the 30-year-old given their potential lack of European football next season, Newcastle could be a sensible move for Maguire even with his criticisms and flaws.
Indeed, the England international has shown that in the right system that he can be a fantastic centre-back in the Premier League, and Newcastle could provide just that for Maguire under Eddie Howe.
Moreover, with the Magpies set to compete in Europe next season, the former Leicester City defender could be offered numerous chances to prove his quality at St. James Park, with Newcastle fans also likely to give Maguire a fair shot to impress them.

Maguire has arguably earnt some of the criticism that has come his way in recent seasons based on his United performances, yet a transfer away from Old Trafford could do the centre-back a world of good, which could tempt Newcastle or even West Ham into making a move.
The Premier League duo both need a top class defender in their ranks for the summer, and with Maguire set to be transfer-listed, Newcastle or West Ham shouldn’t be afraid to take a risk on the United skipper and to give the 30-year-old a new lease in life.
