Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has claimed that there’s a good deal of scepticism around Fabio Paratici’s move for Cristian Romero at Tottenham.

Paratici has reportedly made Romero his top target this summer, and while he would be an interesting addition, there are people who have their doubts.

Indeed, some believe that it’s rather strange for Paratici to be going back in for a player he’s already signed and sold once at Juventus.

What’s been said?

Castles shared an update on how some people are feeling about Paratici’s move for Romero.

“There’s a good deal of scepticism about Cristian Romero as well, whether he is worth the €50m asking price Atalanta have set on him, and whether Paratici has got it right in going back for a player he signed at Juventus and sold at Juventus subsequently for a much larger fee than he let him leave the club for,” Castles said.

Learnt from his mistakes

It is strange that Paratici is going back in for a player he’s previously cast aside at Juventus, but people can learn from their mistakes.

A number of clubs have prospered by bringing back players they’ve gotten rid of in the past, just look at Nemanja Matic when he was at Chelsea or Paul Pogba at Manchester United, so why can’t Paratici bring Romero back?

Of course, it’s safe to be sceptical, but Romero is the Serie A Defender of the Year and he’d be a great addition to Spurs’ backline.
