Speaking on The Done Deal Show, journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Spurs’ talks with Cristian Romero have slowed down.
The Argentine looked to be incredibly close to joining Tottenham earlier this month, having reportedly already agreed personal terms with the London club, but an impasse between Atalanta and Spurs has seemingly put this deal into doubt.
Indeed, Tottenham’s negotiations with Atalanta have apparently slowed down.
What’s been said?
O’Rourke gave an update on Romero’s potential move to Spurs.
“They want to bring in Romero who has been a very good performer for Atalanta. He has enjoyed a good summer with Argentina helping them win the Copa America,” O’Rourke said.
“Atalanta want to get as much money out of this as they can, Spurs are obviously trying to negotiate because they believe it’s a bit too much at the minute. Talks are ongoing between the two clubs, it’s slowed down a bit, but from the players side his preference would be to move to the Premier League.”

Typical Tottenham
Fabio Paratici may be the man in charge of transfers these days, but this is typical Tottenham,
Spurs trying to haggle on a fee for a top target has cost them the chance to sign so many players in the past, and if they’re not careful, Romero could slip through the net as well.
Luckily, the player is seemingly open to the move, but they need to put a suitable offer to Atalanta.
Fingers crossed Tottenham can get this one done.
