According to Yahoo!Sport, Newcastle United managerial target Jorge Jesus has been offered a new contract by his club Flamengo.
The report has stated that Jesus has received an offer of €3.5 million (£3.13 million) per year from Flamengo to extend his current deal which runs out this summer.
It has been added that Newcastle’s interest in the former Benfica boss has cooled down, and that Flamengo and Jesus are close to renewing the contract.
Goal.com recently reported that Newcastle are interested in appointing Jesus as their manager after Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund buy the club from current owner Mike Ashley.
Decision made?
With Jesus’s current contract running out at the end of June, it seems that he will have to make a decision soon, and it appears that he has already made one – to stay at Flamengo.
The Premier League is suspended at the moment, and it is pretty clear that even if the proposed Newcastle takeover goes through, Steve Bruce will remain in charge until the current season ends.
Newcastle are unlikely to get relegated to the Championship and are still in the FA Cup.
