Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette is out of contract in 2022 and new rumours are linking him with a move away from the club.

The Gunners snapped up Lacazette for a huge £52.7million in the summer of 2017 as Arsenal raided Lyon for his signature.

Lacazette has now turned out 170 times for Arsenal, bagging 65 goals and 28 assists in the process – around one goal involvement every two appearances.

The 30-year-old hit 13 Premier League goals last season, so you would assume he would have a big role to play at Arsenal moving forward – but that may not be the case.

Lacazette’s contract expires in the summer of 2022, meaning he has just one year left – and this may be Arsenal’s last chance to cash in.

There haven’t really been many rumours of interest in Lacazette, meaning Arsenal may end up having to keep him on board for his final season.

Now, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has suggested that there are no talks ongoing over a new deal, and Arsenal aren’t even planning to discuss an extension.

Arsenal are happy to let Lacazette go this summer for the right price, seemingly wary that a foreign club could land him on a pre-contract agreement come January.

“This is an interesting one, because he was in the plans with Arteta and he was getting a lot of regular first-team football last season, but he has entered the final year of his contract and no talks are planned or are underway over a new contract,” said Sheth.

“If an offer does come in that Arsenal are happy with, they will let Lacazette go; otherwise Lacazette will see out the remainder of his contract and leave for free next summer. He is of course free to sign a pre contract agreement in six months with a foreign club,” he added.
