Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Duncan Castles has claimed that Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette could be involved in a swap deal for Philippe Coutinho.
It had previously been rumoured that Arsenal and Barcelona could come to an agreement to swap Coutinho for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but now Castles says that Lacazette could also be an option.
What’s been said?
The journalist shared what he knows about this situation.
“One of those is a swap deal, Coutinho moving out of Barcelona to Arsenal and one of Alexandre Lacazette or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang going in the other direction to Barcelona,” Castles said.
“I think it says a lot about the state of both clubs that this type of deal is even being considered at present. Barcelona want a number nine and they’re scouring the market and see the opportunity in that Arteta is not happy with those two players.”

Smart move
If Arsenal are able to swap Lacazette, who is in the final year of his deal, for Coutinho it would be a very smart move.
People may view Coutinho as a bit of a flop at Barcelona due to the extraordinary price La Blaugrana paid for the Brazilian, but let’s not forget how good he was in the Premier League – with Roberto Firmino once labelling him ‘phenomenal’.
The attacking midfielder was one of the best players in the division during his time at Liverpool, hence why Barca paid so much for him back in 2019.
The Gunners may be the big winners if this one goes through.
