Speaking on The RedMen TV, Goal journalist Neil Jones has been discussing Cody Gakpo after his move to Liverpool.
The Dutch forward arrived at Anfield at the beginning of the transfer window, and there is a real sense of intrigue around this player ahead of his debut.
Indeed, many Liverpool fans are wondering what Gakpo can bring to this side, and Jones has some insight on that front.
The journalist says he’s spoken to Gakpo’s personal coach about the Dutchman’s biggest attribute is his end product, reportedly claiming that it doesn’t need any more work in training.

Gakpo’s finishing is refined
Jones shared what he’s heard from Gakpo’s coach.
“Maybe Gakpo becomes that sort of player where the first chance he gets he takes it and Liverpool feel a bit more secure. That seems to be his strength. What I’ve seen of him and what I’ve spoken to people about. I spoke to his personal coach and I said what’s the one thing you don’t need to touch and he said his finishing and his last action is just fine. That’s all taken care of, what they work on is everything around that, his positioning, his awareness, where to be on the pitch. One player may not transform this team, but maybe he could make a big difference,” Jones said.
He’ll score buckets
If Gakpo’s finishing is truly as good as his coach says, he will score tons of goals for Liverpool.
This team creates an unbelievable number of chances, but, far too often there is nobody there to finish them.
Darwin Nunez has missed sitter after sitter this season, and the Reds are crying out for a player who can show a bit of composure in front of goal.
Luckily, it sounds like Gakpo is that player, and he may well have the tools required to be a star at Anfield.
