What a week Arsenal are having.

They beat Tottenham in the north London derby on Sunday, and now they’re on their way to completing their first two signings of the January transfer window.

Leandro Trossard has seemingly agreed to join the Gunners from Brighton, and now, they’re closing in on a new defensive addition.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Gunners are in advanced negotiations for Jakub Kiwior from Spezia, and now, Di Marzio has gone one step further in his reporting of this story.

Indeed, the Italian journalist has now claimed that Kiwior will fly into London this weekend and sign for the Gunners.

Kiwior looks set to become a new Arsenal player, and this will certainly be an interesting addition to the north London club’s ranks.

After Ben White’s shift to right-back, Arsenal haven’t got all that much depth at centre-half, but Kiwior will act as a brilliant understudy to Gabriel Magalhaes on the left side of the defence.

As a left-footer, Kiwior certainly ticks a box for what Arsenal need in their backline, and at the age of just 23, he could be a star for years to come.

Of course, he has a lot to prove. The move from Spezia to Arsenal is a huge step up in quality, but he’ll be joining a group that is brimming with confidence and he won’t be thrown in at the deep end as he’ll be able to work as Gabriel’s deputy before he is ready to become a fully-fledged starter for Arsenal.

Once Kiwior is ready, he could be brilliant for the Gunners. After all, he has been described as ‘extraordinary’ in the past.

Signings like this will be key for the Gunners if they want to continue their title charge as centre-back is a key area that requires a lot of depth.

This one could well be announced at the start of next week.
