According to Ciro Venerato, Everton could make an offer for Napoli talisman Lorenzo Insigne, who Tottenham also want.
What’s the story?
Well, Venerato made the claim while speaking on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
The journalist said: “Inter enquired for both Insigne and Correa from Lazio. At the moment, the evaluation that Napoli makes of him settles at €30m. Everton could formulate an offer for Insigne.”
As you can see, the Toffees face competition from Inter Milan – the champions of Italy – for the 30-year-old.
Napoli are clearly standing firm, demanding £25.6m for a player who has just one year remaining on his contract.
It’s a strange move, as surely no club will pay that sum despite Insigne’s immense quality.
Perhaps Napoli are just happy to keep the 47-cap Italy international on board this season, and risk losing him for free next summer.
Having said that, a lot could still change.
Tottenham have bid for Lorenzo Insigne
While Everton contemplate an offer, Tottenham have already made one.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are said to have lodged a bid for the Napoli No.24, who has proven himself to be a goal machine throughout the years.
Insigne scored 19 goals last season, and has impressively netted 168 goals in total throughout his career.
Tottenham arguably have more pulling power than Everton at this moment in time, although Rafa Benitez could be key.
Insigne has already spoken of his admiration for the Spaniard, and the pair have a good relationship from their time in Naples.
That could be Everton’s trump card – should they choose to play it, that is.
