Celtic are still searching for a new manager following Neil Lennon’s exit in February.
Lennon resigned almost three months ago but the Bhoys still haven’t managed to bring in his successor.
A number of names have been linked with the job, and it still seems that Eddie Howe is the favourites for the role.
However, transfer insider Ian McGarry has now told the Transfer Window Podcast that Celtic have actually shown an interest in Frank Lampard.
McGarry claims that Lampard isn’t exactly rushing to get into another job having been sacked by Chelsea in January, as he is enjoying his time with his family.
Celtic are ‘certainly’ interested though according to McGarry, who believes that Lampard will only go back into work for exactly the right project.
“I don’t believe that Lampard is necessarily rushing to get into another manager’s job,” said McGarry. “He is enjoying his time with his young family. That’s not to say that he’s not open to an interesting offer – there is certainly interest from Celtic, but I don’t think that he is in a position where he will necessarily go into a project that he doesn’t think he has a good chance of progress or succeeding in,” he added.
Lampard is being touted for the Crystal Palace job following Roy Hodgson’s announcement that he is leaving the Eagles this summer.

Celtic appear to have him on their list though, and a move to Parkhead would see Lampard in a very interesting battle against his former England teammate Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
Lampard won 24 of his 57 games in charge of Derby County, then 44 in 84 at Chelsea. With 68 wins in 141 games, Lampard has a win rate of 48.2%.
He has no silverware in his young managerial career that may just worry Celtic, but his work developing young players should put him in the conversation alongside Howe.
