Bild reporter Christian Falk has told Give Me Sport that Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich were ‘impressed’ by striker Harry Kane on Sunday, despite Tottenham Hotspur suffering defeat to Arsenal in the North London derby.

Kane, 29, failed to add to his 15 goals in the Premier League this season – or his 14 goals in North London derbies – as Arsenal held firm. The Gunners eased to a win thanks a dominant first 45, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka scoring.

Spurs had chances in the second half, but could not find their way past Aaron Ramsdale. A win for Arsenal that leaves Spurs in fifth, five points behind fourth-placed Manchester United who have a game in hand. Kane’s future is in doubt.

He will have been thinking, on Sunday, how much more can he put up with as Spurs continue to stutter. His deal at Tottenham ends in June 2024, and Bayern have been regularly linked. Now, Falk says Bayern were impressed by Kane.

“I heard they were impressed with his performance yesterday. Although he lost, they saw that he is always able to score. Even if his team are playing badly, he is always the man who can change it,” Falk reported after the 2-0 result.

“They are impressed with how he plays in the box. How fast he is, his aerial ability. They say he’s a complete player and if there’s a chance to get him, they will try,” Bild reporter Falk added on Kane, when speaking to Give Me Sport.

Falk: Bayern impressed by Tottenham striker Kane despite Arsenal defeat

Kane has been in stunning form for Spurs this season. If it had not been for Erling Haaland, Kane would be getting plenty of plaudits for his goal return – especially, in a side that are struggling this season. This summer is pivotal.

If Spurs fail to finish in the top four, you would expect that the England skipper moves on to pastures new. Where does he go? He would rather remain in England – and beat Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record. But time will tell.
