Speaking on the Claret & Blue Podcast, Birmingham Mail journalist Ashley Preece has issued an update on Jack Grealish’s future at Villa Park.
Grealish has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season, and as you can imagine, that has led to speculation about him moving to one of the biggest clubs in the country.
However, Preece claims that the boyhood Villa fan is committed to playing at a packed out Villa Park again, while the club aren’t willing to entertain any bids for their star man.
“I can’t see that happening. I can’t see clubs spending £100m to get him to be honest. He’s out with an injury, so that’s going to put clubs off as well, so I doubt it will be entertained at all. Grealish wants to carry on and he wants to fire Villa into Europe,” Preece said.
“Having fans back next season will bring his game on even further. He can’t wait to play in front of a packed out Villa Park again, because I think he’s one of the players that feeds off it. I think clubs aren’t going to touch it this season based on his injury and the amount that he’ll cost and Villa aren’t going to entertain a bid.”
This is certainly a promising update if you’re a Villa fan.
We all know how good Grealish is, but his ability is perhaps best summed up by John McGinn’s comments about him.
“He’s a player who can take the ball in any scenario, he’s really quick and this season he’s been scoring goals and creating goals. He’s one of the best attacking players in the league and it’s a pleasure to play alongside him,” McGinn said.
Keeping Grealish should be the Midlands club’s number one priority this summer, and it seems as though they’re keen to do just that.
Of course, every man has his price, but given the fact he’s under contract for a long time and the fact that Villa aren’t keen to sell means he’s likely to spend another campaign at Villa Park.
