Journalist claims £40m transfer ‘will go ahead’ involving Everton man after ‘crazy’ call

Julian Laurens has told Jim White’s talkSPORT radio show that PSG ‘will go ahead’ with paying £40 million for the services of Everton striker Moise Kean.

The French journalist claimed that it’s ‘crazy’ from the Ligue 1 clubs part that they didn’t put an ‘option to buy him’ when Everton loaned him out last summer.

And whilst Kean struggled during his days in Everton colours, he is seemingly loving life in Paris, who now have Mauricio Pochettino in charge.

And given that PSG ‘like him so much’, and the player himself is happy, Laurens can see Kean heading for the Merseyside exit for a big amount of money this summer.

“What am I hearing about Everton coming in for a windfall,” asked presenter Jim White. “£40 million for Moise Kean from PSG, is this happening?”

“Yes, they are discussing the fee,” said Laurens. “Maybe, it was stupid from PSG, but when they took him on loan, they didn’t put an option to buy him, which is quite crazy when you think about it.

“Surely, that clause would have been a lot lower than what Everton are, completely rightly so, asking for money now because he has had such a great season for Paris.

“He’s a young player, with a lot of talent and very promising, so they are right to ask for £40 million. They wouldn’t have asked that a year ago, that’s for sure because he had come out of a bad season for them and we didn’t know how he would do in Paris.

“I think PSG, because they like him so much and he wants to stay, I think they will go ahead with that amount or around about that amount.”

If such a deal goes through then, for once, Everton have done pretty well in the transfer market because usually, they are the ones splashing the cash and then losing out on a lot of money on that player a few seasons later.

When Kean first arrived at Goodison Park, a lot was made about how he had a lot of promise and talent at his feet.

Now, he’s showcasing signs that he is taking his game to the next level at PSG, but it will be interesting to see how his career does pan out if he is indeed back in Paris colours next season.

The oil-rich French club just lost out on the Ligue 1 title to Lille, and they will want that back as soon as possible next season, including wanting to win the trophy they crave the most – the Champions League.
