According to Florian Plettenburg, Brentford have made an “enormous” bid for Kevin Schade, who rejected Liverpool in 2021.

What’s the story?

Well, the Sky Germany journalist believes the Bees have offered around €15m (£13m) to sign the 20-year-old, who has delivered a number of impressive displays for SC Freiburg.

Brentford’s bid comes after some sources claimed that Schade rejected a move to Liverpool last summer, as he preferred to stay in the Bundesliga and focus on his development.

The Germany Under-21 international scored seven goals in 24 appearances for SC Freiburg last season, while also providing two assists, as he continued to shine in German football.

Now, Thomas Frank has made a concrete move for Schade, although Plettenburg believes it has been rejected.

SC Freiburg’s asking price – if they have one – is not disclosed by the Sky Germany journalist, who mentions that the youngster is one of the fastest players in the Bundesliga.

Incidentally, Schade has been compared to Bayern Munich speedster Alphonso Davies, one of the most rapid footballers around.

Liverpool should rival Brentford

In our view, Liverpool should go back in for Schade after Brentford submitted a bid.

The Bees clearly believe they have a good chance of signing the German wonderkid, or else they wouldn’t have bothered making an offer.

Now, following the departures of Sadio Mane, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino, Jürgen Klopp needs at least one new attacker to replace the goals those three brought to the side.

Schade would be a good option in that respect, as he isn’t established enough to demand a starting role ahead of Luis Diaz or Mohamed Salah, but he is still talented enough to make an impact when called upon.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Brentford could soon return to SC Freiburg with an improved bid.
