Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin could now stay in north London if FC Barcelona fail to agree to a deal to sign the Spanish international.
According to Goal journalist Charles Watts, Real Betis are no longer in the race to sign Bellerin leaving just Barcelona in contention to land the 27-year-old right-back, though with so little time to go and the Catalan giants working on a deal to bring Marcos Alonso in from Chelsea, the Arsenal academy graduate could now stay in England.

With a reported £110,000-a-week contract, Mikel Arteta has been looking to offload Bellerin all summer with little success, this is despite the defender having a fantastic loan spell at Real Betis last season where the fullback won the Copa del Rey with the Andalusian side.
However, as of now, Bellerin is yet receive a viable offer that will see the defender end his 12-year stay with Arsenal, and with Barcelona focused elsewhere, there is now a real chance that the Spanish international will remain in north London until January, where the fullback is unlikely to ever take the pitch under Arteta.

Arteta has proven during his time as Arsenal manager to have a ruthless streak in him when it comes to players he doesn’t want at the club, namely in 2020 when he excluded Mesut Ozil and Sokratis from the Gunners’ Premier League squad, and a similar situation could happen to Bellerin should the defender stay in north London.
Indeed, Bellerin remaining at Arsenal benefits nobody with the fullback unlikely to play any football should he stay at the Emirates Stadium, and after his loan at Betis last year, a move is needed for the fullback to continue his impressive season in Seville.
